For the week of April 2, 2017
Severe Weather Awareness Week in Minnesota is April 17-21. This week, how to prepare and stay safe during sever weather.
Guest: Todd Krause, Warning Coordination Meteorologist for the National Weather Service
The severe weather season started extra early this year in Minnesota—a tornado touched down on March 6, setting a record. Krause discuses tornado watches and warnings and how severe weather is monitored by the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma.
Being aware of the potential for severe weather is one of the most important ways to stay safe, says Krause. He recommends checking weather reports on local news media or on weather.gov, owning a NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) radio or following NOAA on social media.
