The 2014 Veterans’ Voices Awards

For the week of October 5th, 2014

Military service was a shared experience for many American men and women of a certain generation. Today, less than 1 percent of Americans are in uniform. On this week’s Access Minnesota, we’ll talk with three veterans about their military experiences, the challenges of reintegrating into civilian life after deployment abroad, and how each of us can better understand and support our veterans.

  • Guests: Evan Tsai, Marine Corps Veteran, Assistant Public Defender in St. Paul, recipient of 2014 Veterans’ Voices Award; Al Horner, former US Navy Seal, entrepreneur, and Co-Chair of the Veterans’ Voices Award Ceremony; Trista Matascastillo, Program Officer for the Veterans’ Voices Awards
  • Issues: Challenges and opportunities for veterans after deployment; How military service changes and affects those who serve; What Americans can learn from veterans; The growing disconnect between US civilians and their military
