Minnesota’s Health Care Exchange Roll-Out

For the week of December 29th, 2013

Healthcare.gov, the online portal for the Affordable Health Care Act, officially launched this past October amidst much controversy. The state of Minnesota opted to create its own health care exchange called MNSure. While MNSure’s rollout has gone more smoothly than the botched federal effort, there are still significant issues with the website and customer service. On this week’s Access Minnesota, Julie Sonier, from the State Health Access Data Assistance Center at the University of Minnesota, joins us to discuss MNSure.

  • Guest: Julie Sonier, Deputy Director of the State Health Access Data Assistance Center (SHADAC) at the University of Minnesota
  • Issues: The challenge of signing up underserved and young populations; Tips for MNsure users; Whether the Affordable Care Act raises or lowers the price of health care; How enrollment compares with government expectations
